On July 6, 1981 Mr. Donny Kemp and Mr. H C Kemp began K & K Trucking with the purchase of "intrastate rights", seven road tractors, seventeen trailers, and two straight trucks. Although the company started as LTL (less than truckload) Carrier, within three years they began to develop the company into an OTR (over the road) Carrier and while OTR service to all 48 states and Canada is now the primary service of the company, they continue to provide Intrastate Truckload and Expedited Service to many companies throughout the state of Tennessee.
